The Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next% 4 Premium “Light Trails” (released April 24, 2025) exists outside the usual categories. By day, multicolored horizontal streaks cross the black knit mesh upper with the precision of light trails captured in long exposure—green, blue, orange, white, each band making speed visible. By night, everything changes: the tongue, eyelets, and midsole illuminate in high-visibility neon green—a functional glow-in-the-dark design decision for runner visibility in low-light conditions. It is the only competition super shoe in Nike history to combine elite racing performance with photoluminescence.

The Vaporfly 4 is the lightest shoe in the entire Vaporfly franchise—10% lighter than the Vaporfly 3—through simultaneous weight reductions on the upper, midsole, and outsole. The full-length ZoomX PEBA midsole delivers Nike’s highest energy return ratio with a slightly reduced stack vs. Vaporfly 3 for a snappier, more direct ground feel. The full-length Flyplate carbon plate is positioned at a higher angle than the previous generation, maximizing forefoot propulsion at sustained race paces. A 6mm drop encourages a natural, economical midfoot strike from 5K to marathon distance.
